Satapada is the place located in Puri district, Odisha, India. It is located at a distance of 50 kilometers from Puri and it is nearly 100 km far from Bhubaneswar. In odia ‘Sata’ means Seven and ‘pada’ means Village, so the name Satapada means group of seven villages. It is located on the southern part of the Chilika Lake. The exact geographical location is 19°40’10″N and 85°26’38″E. Satapada is one of the most popular tourist place of Odisha.

How to reach
- Air: The nearest airport is Biju Patnaik Airport at Bhubaneswar, around 120 km away.
- Rail: Nearest railway station is at Puri, around 50 km away. Puri connects to all the major places in the country via superfast and express trains.
- Road: National highway 203A connects Satpada to Puri, 50 km away. Bhubaneswar and Puri have daily bus services along with taxis to Satapada. Conducted tours are also organised by OTDC (Odisha Tourism Development Corporation) and local tour operators.
- Local Transport: Cycles and Auto Rickshaw is the local transport to reach Satapada

Chilika Visitor Center

Chilika Development authority maintains one Chilika Visitor center at Satapada. Inside this center tourist can find many details about Chilika like fishing types, fishing communities, species available, birds visiting Chilika lake, Bio diversity etc . At first floor one hall with toys for kids are available. From this hall panoramic view of Chilka lake can be seen.
Other facilities at Chilika

Different types of facilities available at Satapada. One of the most facilities is boat facilities. Different types of boat available and all tourist boats are power driven. The motor boat association of Satapada manages these boats. The motor boat association have rate chart for the boat based on capacity and duration. The association also maintains rest room, toilets and drinking water facilities for the tourists. One family or a group is allowed in a boat, one group can take 6 adults + 2 children.
Dolphins Sights
Dolphins are the main attraction of Satapada boat ride. Highest population of Irrawaddy dolphins in the world are seen in Chilika. But it depends on your luck also , usually some small part of the tail of the dolphin is visible. If they jumps then only the back of the Dolphin can be seen. The motor boats switch off the engine at the Dolphin points to maintain silence. At the jetty instruction are displayed for the tourist on care to be taken near the Dolphin point. Boats has to switch off the engine and maintain 50 M distance from the Dolphins. Not more than 5 boats are allowed at the same time near the Dolphin.
Rajhans Island
Cross the Chilika Lake on boat from Satapada. Rajhans Island is at a distance of 18 kms from Satapada. It is the wonderfull picnic spot also. we recommended once visit this place and enjoy .
Vessel travel inside Chillika Lake

There is a vessel service from Satapada to Janhikuda. which carries vehicles of all type through Chilika Lake. On several occasion this vessel service is stopped by Local government. So confirm the timings and availability before making any journey plan.
