Nandankanan Zoological park is a premier large zoo of India. Nandankanan is a 437 hectare zoo and botanical garden in Bhubaneswar. It’s established in 1960 and it was opened to the public in 1979. The zoo is home to about 1660 individual animals representing 166 species. including 67 species of mammals, 81 species of birds, and 18 species of reptiles. Nandankanan is a popular destination for the locals and visitors.

  • Visiting hours for the public from April to September is 7.30 AM to 5.30 PM. During the months of October to March, the timings are 8.00 AM to 5 PM.
  • Closed on Mondays.
  • Nominal entry fee of Rs 50 per person.

Pathani Samanta planetarium is one of the most loved landmarks of the city of Bhubaneswar. The planetarium was established by Science and Technology Department. It was set up with an aim of spreading awareness about the study of astrophysics, astronomy and space science. The planetarium features a fully equipped library that has a rich collection of books on technology, science and environment. The planetarium is a must visit for school going kids to know science in a better way with great models available here.

Odisha State Museum

State museum

Odisha State Museum was established in 1932. The museum is divided into eleven sections, namely archeology, epigraphy, numismatics, armory, mining and geology, natural history, art and craft, patta painting, anthropology, and palm leaf manuscripts, and is headed by a superintendent and the administrative control lies in the hands of Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Odisha. The museum is famous for its extesive collection of palm leaf manuscripts, the oldest dating back to 1690.
