In today’s fast-moving world, electric scooters are becoming a smart and eco-friendly choice for daily transportation. In a growing city like Bhubaneswar, where students, office workers, and families need convenient and affordable mobility, electric scooters offer several advantages over traditional petrol-powered vehicles. They can reduce daily fuel expenses, produce no tailpipe emissions, and provide modern features such as digital displays, smartphone connectivity, navigation, and convenient charging. However, choosing the right electric scooter requires careful consideration of its price, battery performance, riding range, comfort, safety, and after-sales service. The ideal scooter should offer a premium riding experience without putting too much pressure on the buyer’s budget.
Top 5 Electric Scooters to Buy in Bhubaneswar
Ather Rizta: Best Family Scooter
Ather’s family-focused scooter has a long, comfortable seat, a big floorboard, and about 56 litres of total storage (under-seat plus an optional frunk). It comes with 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh batteries, with a claimed range of roughly 120–160 km. It is well suited to families and daily city riders who want practicality without giving up tech. Skid control and the Ather Grid fast-charging network are useful extras.
Approx. price: ₹1.1–1.6 lakh (ex-showroom)
2. TVS iQube: Best All-Rounder
The iQube is easy to live with. It has a smooth ride, a comfortable seat and a sensible design, and it is backed by TVS’s large service network across Odisha. It is offered with several battery options (2.2 to 3.5 kWh), so it suits a wide range of budgets.

3.Bajaj Chetak: Best Build Quality
The Chetak’s all-metal body and retro styling set it apart. The newer 35-series models moved the battery under the floorboard, which freed up more boot space, and they claim around 150 km of range. It feels solid and premium, and Bajaj’s service reach in Bhubaneswar is strong.

4. Hero Vida V2: Best Value with Removable Batteries
The Vida’s biggest advantage is its removable batteries. You can carry them home and charge them, which helps if you live in an apartment without a parking charger. A Battery-as-a-Service option also lowers the upfront cost.

5. Ola S1 Pro: Best for Range and Performance
The S1 Pro offers the most range and speed for the money, with a claimed 190+ km on higher variants and strong acceleration. Ola has faced criticism over service quality, so buyers should check the local service centre’s track record before purchasing.

Buying Tips for Bhubaneswar Riders
Check the IP rating. Look for IP67 on the battery and motor for monsoon safety.
Expect lower real-world range. It typically comes in 20–30% below claimed figures.
Visit the service centre before buying. After-sales support matters more than specs.
Ask about Odisha EV incentives. The state has offered purchase incentives and road tax/registration waivers under its EV policy. Before purchasing, buyers should compare the final on-road price, battery warranty, charging time, service-centre availability and financing costs. Claimed riding ranges are measured under test conditions, so actual range can be lower. A careful test ride and comparison of local dealer quotations can help buyers select an electric scooter that offers premium features without unnecessary expense. Ultimately, the smartest purchase is not necessarily the most expensive scooter, but the one that balances comfort, reliability, technology and affordability.
Final recommendation: For a balance of budget and premium features, start by comparing the Ola S1 Pro and TVS iQube with the exact variants available in Bhubaneswar.
