11 Best Cafes in Bhubaneswar to Chill, Work & Take Photos

Bhubaneswar is not just a city of temples, history and heritage. Over the years, the city has also developed a growing cafe culture, with new cafes becoming popular among students, friends and people who simply enjoy spending time over a good cup of coffee and good food.

Today, going to a cafe is not always just about having coffee or a quick meal. For some people, it is a place to hangout with friends after a busy week. For others, it can be a comfortable spot to work on a laptop, read a book, attend a casual meeting or spend a few quiet hours. And sometimes, it is simply about finding a beautiful space, enjoying the ambience and taking a few good pictures.

But with so many cafes around Bhubaneswar, choosing the right one can be a little difficult. A cafe may have great food but not enough space to work. Another may have a beautiful interior but get very crowded in the evening and no place to sit. Some places are better for a relaxed conversation, while others are more suitable when you want to sit back and enjoy your own time.

That is why this guide brings together some of the cafes in Bhubaneswar that are worth exploring. Instead of simply listing cafes, we look at what makes each place different……from its ambience and seating to its food, work-friendly spaces and photo-worthy corners.

Whether you are planning a coffee break with friends, looking for a comfortable place to get some work done, or just want to discover a nice new cafe in the city, this list will help you find a place that matches your mood and plans.

How we select these cafes:

While selecting these cafes, i looked at a few things such as the ambience, food and drinks, location, overall comfort and the kind of experience the cafe offers. We also considered whether the space is comfortable for spending a few hours, getting some work done, meeting friends or taking photos.

We also looked at customer reviews and available information about each cafe to understand what people enjoy about these places.
The goal is simple: to help you choose a cafe that fits your plans, instead of simply giving you another list of cafes in Bhubaneswar

Ekaiva is a cafe that I really like for its pastel interiors and the little things you can find around the place. The soft colours give it a very nice look, and if you like taking pictures, you will find a lot of corners to click photos. The café can get crowded, but that does not take away from the overall look of the place.

The food is also worth trying, Another thing I like is the jamming space, where singing and music sessions happen. It gives you something to enjoy while you are there instead of just sitting and having your food.

Ekaiva also has a small corner where you can buy things like fridge magnets, bags and other little items. You can pick something up for yourself or take it home as a small memory from the café. These small details are what I personally like about the place.

Nutmeg is a very cozy cafe with a floral pink aesthetic that makes the place really photogenic. The interiors have a simple, pretty look, and there are a few nice corners for pictures.

Kruti Coffee is a place for people who genuinely enjoy coffee. The cafe focuses on specialty coffee, with beans sourced from different parts of India, including Odisha. At the Patia outlet, you can also see the coffee roasting setup inside the cafe, which makes the coffee feel like a bigger part of the place rather than just another item on the menu.

Along with coffee, they have a good selection of food, including breakfast, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, desserts and bakery items. The cafe has a comfortable setting with indoor and outdoor seating, so you can come here for a coffee break, work for a while or meet someone.

What makes Kruti worth adding to this list is its focus on Indian specialty coffee, especially its connection with Odisha-grown coffee. If you want to explore coffee beyond the usual cappuccino or cold coffee, this is a place worth checking out.

It can get lively in the evening, so it works better for a group outing than a quiet coffee break.

There is a lot to choose from on the menu, including pizza, pasta, biryani, grills, seafood and other Indian dishes. They also have their own freshly brewed beer. You can order a few different things and share them with your friends, which is probably the best way to enjoy the place.

The menu has a lot of options, from coffee and frappes to pasta, pizza, sandwiches, salads and Indian dishes. If you are mainly going for coffee, their Doppio shot and frappes are worth trying. The food has some good picks too, especially the chicken nachos, corn cheese balls and pasta.

What I like about Doppio is that you don’t really need a fixed plan to come here. You can just stop for coffee, sit outside for a while, or come with friends and order a proper meal. The outdoor setup also makes it a good place for pictures without making the whole cafe feel like it is only meant for photos.

BBSR’s café scene is getting better every day, and these are definitely the places I keep going back to.
